Frequently Asked Questions

FAQs

What does a Process Service do?

In the State of New York, the laws specify how to serve (deliver) legal papers to any individual or business involved in a legal matter. The rules and regulations involved can be confusing and challenging; improper service can lead to the dismissal of cases and legal penalties. If you want to serve someone correctly, call us. We'll do our due diligence to get it done right while complying with and obeying the laws to ensure the parties involved receive the legal papers correctly, as the court requires these legal documents to be served.

What area do you cover?

We serve Nassau County, NY, as our primary service area and Suffolk County (up to 85 miles away) from our operated location. Service of Process to cities and towns beyond Riverhead are considered remote locations and are subject to an extra charge for the Long Island Ferries and excess mile fee. Additionally, to comply with the NYC Department of Consumer Affairs, we can only serve legal papers in the five boroughs of NYC until further notice.

Do I get a price break if you serve two defendants at the exact location?

We can offer a price break if we serve two defendants at the same address and time. However, we must be aware of this in advance, and a manager must approve it before the first delivery attempt.

How much do you charge for your services?

When determining pricing, we consider various factors to provide you with the most competitive rates. These factors include service location, accounts work volume, speed, and specific services you require. Our rates generally range from $45 to $895. What other services do you offer at your Franklin Square office?

Besides being your process servers, we're an authorized DMV Service Bureau licensed by the New York State Department of Motor Vehicles to handle DMV transactions such as Registration, plates, and titles. Additionally, we're a same-day local courier and messenger service provider licensed by the NYS Department of Transportation and operated under Authority number T-39224.

What happens if the intended recipient cannot be found to receive the legal papers?

Our process servers will make up to three attempts to deliver your legal papers. If the intended recipient cannot be located to accept the legal documents, we'll notify the client to let us know how to proceed. We can also perform "Skip Tracing" at an extra charge. However, doing so will automatically delay the process until we locate the intended recipient who needs to be served.

Do you file and retrieve documents at the Courthouse?

Yes, we file and retrieve documents at any courthouse on Long Island. However, we have a cut-off time for same-day services to remote locations, such as Courthouses in Central Islip and Riverhead, NY.

How do I create an account with you?

When you place your first order, an account is automatically created to keep you updated throughout the process.  Create an Account here

What is your turnaround time?

We offer a range of service levels to meet our client's needs and budgets, and these services are as follows:
● Routine (10 days)
● Standard (5 days)
● Rush (Same day)

Note: Rush orders must be submitted or called in before noon. We reserve the right to reject and cancel "Rush Orders" received after noon.

What forms of payment do you accept?

We accept all credit cards for payment, checks, money orders, and cash.

Note: All Services must be pre-paid, including any (advanced court and mailing fees) when submitting the order, regardless of who requests them. Under no circumstance will service be accepted without advance payment unless the client has established a credit account agreement with us for weekly billable with ACH payments.

Can the service process be performed on the weekends?

Unfortunately, the NYS law restricts process servers to serve someone on Sundays or their religious observant day.

How do I send the legal documents to you safely?

You will need to upload your documents when placing your order. The file size is limited to 20 MB, and you can submit up to 30 PDFs per order. If you prefer to drop off your legal papers at our office and request that we print them from a portable storage device, please note that the base price includes the first 30 pages. Any additional pages beyond that will incur a charge of $0.25 per page.

Will you let me know when my order is complete?

Yes, we keep all our clients updated throughout the process. We'll send you a proof of service (POS) or affidavit of service upon completion.
